Though computer has been defined in different ways according to some authors. 
 
Below are the definitions of computers according to their functions: 

1. General-Purpose Electronic Device: A computer is a general-purpose electronic device capable of performing a wide range of tasks, from calculations and data processing to running software applications.

2. Data Processing Machine: It's a machine designed to process and manipulate data, which includes input, storage, processing, and output of information.

3. Turing Machine: In a theoretical sense, a computer can be defined as a Turing machine, a mathematical model of computation that can simulate any algorithmic process.

4. Digital Device for Information Manipulation: A computer is a digital device that operates on discrete data, using binary code (0s and 1s) to perform various operations, making it a versatile tool for information manipulation and communication.
